Bought it last year, some time.Had surgery last monday 10/7/24. Drain clogged wednesday. I thought I gave it a shot. Went out there with your machine. No effort drain cleaned. Awesome machine.
How can the included gloves be so gross?! Probably a returned unit. The unit did end up working anyway and I got a small refund for the missing handle. But come on, check your returns!

This arrives in one big box, that looks like it went through a war. Garvee delivery drivers literally just dropped it at my front door, damaging it. You can see in the pic, the Styrofoam is just destroyed and was a complete mess and got into every nook and cranny in the machine, took forever to clean it out.The next thing is the cable. The description, and pictures, show the drain cable as a "coil" with a steel cable within it. As you can see in the pictures, there is *NO* steel cable within this snake cable! While it is stiff and works well enough, it is not as shown or described and was a selling point for me (rather not have these types of cables snap off in my drain line...).The machine is not that large but it very heavy. I can lift it fine, but someone not that fit or smaller than me will definitely struggle moving this machine around, it is hefty! It is noisy and I had to adjust the motor belt (that the motor is attached to that turns the whole snake drum). The switch activator is good and works well and immediately stops the machine when you remove your foot. The knob tension controller is a little bit weird to work and understand. Because the markings on it to tell you which direction to "throw" the handle for forward or reverse, do not move it in those directions. On top of that, it has a reverse motor switch itself, but says to never use it to spin back the snake, only if it gets stuck. You always move the machine in the normal direction, both to spool out and wind back up the snack. Now I used it to unclog a 4" cast iron drain line that was filled with tree roots. It did it's job but it was hard to discern if the snake is moving forward or backwards, when it's clean. When it's gunked up, you can tell.It comes with a pair of leather work gloves, but they're a little thin and I didn't trust them too much. Used a thicker pair and it was fine with the snake, they did not catch in them, but I also know the moves of it, so there's that as well. This thing with seriously hurt someone if you do not ALWAYS have it under control! Especially the end when you are either first getting it into the drain or retrieving it. I found it was best to do it in small bursts, either when just starting or ending, to prevent losing control and literally taking someone's eye out.The machine worked well, the motor does get quite hot after about 30-45 mins of usage. It kept chugging for just over an hour, but it kept tripping from overheating. It required frequent shut offs, trip resets, back on and off and reset, in order to get it to start up again. But all in all, I would buy it again, just if it had a coupon or was not at $350. It's an okay machine at $350, better at $300 or less. The auto forward and retraction helps immensely and you WANT the auto forward, trust me, pay the difference for it. You do not want to try to keep the machine running and feeding forward this long cable, especially as it gets further and longer into the drain pipe. The hassle, labor and stress is worth the extra for auto forward.
Awesome machine. This snake auger paid for it's self on the very first use. I had roots and foreign objects clogging up my sewer line and this snake did the trick. It was a very slow process that took a couple of hours and I was able to pull everything out that was causing the problem.I'm sure a plumber would have charged me $400.00 or more for 2 hours worth of work.So to say the least, I'm pretty happy with the quality and durability of this snake and I'll never have to call a plumber again!
It was very well packaged when received and none of the accessories were missing. Open it up and you will find that it is indeed a very reliable machine, although it is a bit heavy for someone. I used it once for clearing nasty root issues with the included setup and it saved me time and effort. Overall, it will help you a lot once you learn how to use it.
I purchased this drain auger to clear roots and sludge from a septic leach field. The machine did a nice job although, it took many passes to git the lines clear.Much care should be taken because when the auger bit binds, the cable can twist creating lots of problems. When the bit binds, it's important to stop the machine and let the cable untwist. There is a nice selection of bits. The auto feed function was well worth the additional cost.
As another reviewer thankfully pointed out, this unit has the exact pictures, design and description as another 'name-brand' unit, but basically has no brand associated with it. It does, however, share a model number with that branded item. So - to save some of the cost, I decided to take the chance with this unit, and I'm happy to report that it appears to have been a wise choice.First: unlike the first reviewer, my cable and machine are perfect (e.g. no kinks).Second: the unit came with all of the stated contents and was very easy to assemble, even though the user manual is almost worthless.Third: Since the user manual is so bad, I took it upon myself to watch videos of others using similar machines to snake their drains. Thanks goodness I did, because it is far from obvious how to operate this system. Don't try to guess...Fourth: Since the system doesn't come with a cable holder (for use between the machine and the inlet, I made one. I cut a 6" long 3/4" diameter piece of PVC pipe that I slid over the cable between the bit and the feeder. This allows you to hold the pipe segment to guide the cable into the drain without having to handle the cable itself. While pulling out the cable, I ran a hose in the drain to wash off the cable as it pulled out. I then guided the cable with towels to dry it and simultaneously applied some oil to keep the cable from rusting. As well as it worked for my clog in my 50+ yr-old home, I think I will do another pass soon with a larger bit.Cons:* The user manual is really poor, so do watch some Youtube videos to learn how the system works.* Some machines come with better bit designs in my humble opinion. I'm thinking I'll buy one or two to open my drain a little more than the first run.* I think the rounded spring bit has too much flex in the pivot joint and I think it may have bent backwards in the larger section of pipe. Doesn't seem like a good design.Pros:* This must be the exact unit shown with the brand name* The unit is sturdy and quiet.* The power is more than adequate as is the 1/2" cable strength.* The auto-feed/retract mechanism makes this SO MUCH easier to use than the manual-feed unit I once rented.

Very quiet. Lubed up good before startup and lubed cable once job was completed. Comes with everything you need including a pair of leather gloves. It paid for itself on the first job. I got the 1/2" cable 75' and it appears to be tough.
