This tool set is perfect for a beginner or new homowner who needs a basic set of tools. The tools are made of good quality materials and are very sturdy. I'm not sure why the title says mechanics tools set, as there is nothing in the case that is specific to working on cars but otherwise I have zero complaints.
This would be a good starter or emergency set but clearly needs additional tools for a serious mechanic. It is very heavy on socket sets so it is more suitable for auto repair than home owner use. The socket wrench handles seemed to have a fine ratchet, which would be very useful in tight quarters. The sockets collection iv quite comprehensive, including 6 and 12 point and deep well sockets. There is some unnecessary duplication from one drive size to another; usually you don’t need a 9/16 socket in both 3/8 and 1/2 drives. Most of the sockets fit quite snugly into the case, but strangely a few just sit there. The combination wrenches cover a small range of sizes, but they have a thin profile and are nicely finished, as are the sockets..
If you are a handyman/DIYer then having a set like this is a must have so that you pretty much have all thee tools you need for doing most any repair that you might have to tackle. If you've been doing your own repairs for any length of time then you probably even already have something like this. If you're like most people that have a set like this for any length of time you've probably lost some of the tools along the way. So if you're either just starting out or your tool set has become incomplete then this set is perfect for you. It comes with most any tool you need and it includes both Metric and SAE (Standard) sixe options for the tools where that applies. All in a nice well laid out carrying case that allows you to conveniently store you tools in a convenient out of the way spot in your home. The only disappointment to me was this set didn't include a hammer or any type of handsaw but I have several of each of those so it wasn't a problem.
I keep the vast majority of tools in my workshop but often find myself in need of one or two while doing household projects. It's a pain in the rear to stop what I'm doing, go out to the shop, find the tool, bring it back and use it, and importantly, putting it back where I originally got it.So I ordered this set for light duty, around the house use and I'm pleasantly impressed with everything but the latches on the case. The tool assortment seems to provide about everyone one might need to tackle the average and most common home and general maintenance on a vehicle. You won't want to try and change an engine with these, but for pretty much everything else you'll run into in a 'normal' home, you'll have what you need (my three family member "backyard mechanics" would have laughed me out of their shop with this kit). The tools themselves are fairly well made, although i dislike the style of ratchet switch because I constantly bump it, it moves to the middle position, and then it feels like the socket itself isn't on the nut. Hugely frustrating, to the point of occasionally having to head across the shop and remove it from the hole in the wall you just created with the throw. And as usual - and like just about every other "tool collection" case like this, overkill on the bits is apparent. Truth is, I use about 4 out of the six hundred they provide and I've always felt a little ripped off because these are included in the total "tool count" for the unit. Here's the quibble, and it's definitely not a deal breaker, just more annoying than anything else: the tools don't always remain in their designated slots when you try to close it. Yeah... you understand now, eh?Worse, the darned latches will pop off with the weight of a housefly on them, and while they're easily repairable and snap back on without a problem... Really? The first time this case tricks the person into thinking it's securely closed and it inadvertently gets dropped and hits the floor, whoever will have to chase all the parts is going to use some very colorful language in the process. It's a decent tool set without breaking the bank, it'll do just about everything you will ever need in a typical home, and they're built well enough to last you well into the future; in fact, it may be the last set you'll need to purchase for your home.
How nice! These tools feel heavy duty, not dinky like some do for this price. I'm SO excited to use them!
This is a Towallmark Store brand 213 piece mechanics tool set. The pieces are forged from Cr-V steel and finished in high-polish chrome providing plenty of strength, durability and anti-corrosion protection. The set contains 82 sockets, 10 combination wrenches, 24 hex key wrenches, a pliers set, a screwdrivers set and other various tools for home maintenance and daily use.The sturdy case organizer protects and keeps tools secure, clean and organized. The sockets are SAE and metric.I plan to store this in my garage and use it for multiple projects around the house.
Awesome. Bought the set for myself last year and buying another for my son for Christmas. Way nicer and much higher quality than I was expecting for the price. So much better than the Harbor Freight kits. Highly recommended.
Bought this set for my soon to be son in law and he keeps telling me he loves them. Anything works like it should. Good tools for the money. No issues so far! Had them for about 3 months.
What is attractive about this set is that it is well thought out, and well put together, for something affordable to keep in the vehicle for emergencies, and doing occasional work on a vehicle or around the home. Has plenty of screwdrivers and bit options, along with a decent selection of sockets. Has 10 wrench sizes, and also has 2 different pliers and a adjustable wrench. Everything fits pretty good in the blow molded case. I believe the case will last if it is not abused or thrown around. Stuff stays in place pretty good while going down the road. The quality of the tools are what I would grade as mid tier. Not top of the line, but I have seen a lot lower quality tools than these, and they are decent quality. and I believe they will last a long time, if took care of. All in all, if you are looking for a decent tool set for less than a hundred dollars, this is a good choice. I would buy them again, and will probably pick up another set or two for gifts later on.
Tools are great the case is not.
