GARVEE Geiger Counter, JD-3001 Radiation Detector, Portable Geiger Counter Dosimeter for Nuclear Radiation Electromagnetic Radiation, EMF Meter

I've been testing this on everything i could find for the last month hasn't failed me yet. Great peace of mind for my family considering the state of the world. Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it!

This is a great Geiger counter for the price. It is made in China, is roughly the same size as a smartphone, and has a nice stand in the back of it that you can use to set it down and still see the screen. Here are some good things to know about this Geiger counter:-You need to hold the power for 3 seconds to turn on or to turn off-It can measure the temperature in either Fahrenheit or Celsius for the area that the unit is in and is very accurate to the 0.1 degree-The RH is the relative humidity in the area so it's comparing the humidity to the local temperature-It measures the nuclear local levels in USV/h and only goes down to 0.01 USV/h. This is great if you are wanting to measure in the event of a nuclear attack because it won't be so sensitive that getting a huge reading will break its calibration. But this isn't for you if you are looking for a very sensitive detector.-This also can read the electromagnetic levels in V/M but I do not have a lot of background in this field to give any insights.update- I have checked the readings of the temperature, humidity, and radiation and all have been accurate. I have been very impressed

Works

I just wanted it for peace of mind to check for radon. I double checked with a smoke detector to make sure it can detect some radiation and it checks out. Good enough for me.

I cannot attest to its sensitivity, but, it seems to work well. The logging function is especially impressive. It logs the levels with timestamps to internal memory and then you can download a CSV to your computer via a USB connection. Pretty cool!

Regarding the radiation detector. Being that I do not have a radioactive source to verify sensitivity and accuracy, I had to be a bit creative. Based on some internet sources, background radiation is about 10 uSv/day. Continuously operating the unit for a number of days and averaging, the background was 13 uSv/day, slightly higher than the 10 uSv/day. Before I retired I occasionally used a piece of equipment that contained a licensed and regulated radioactive source. As a result, personnel and background was monitored. For brevity, it was known, based on the monitoring, that local bsckground was slightly elevated. So, after a few calcs, the 13 uSv is reasonable.

Nice Geiger counter, it even has a toolbox as a package, and most importantly there are two modes, nuclear radiation detection and electromagnetic radiation detection, you don't need to buy two detectors with different functions, having this one is enough, all in all I highly recommend it.
